Salmonella strikes in Oldbury

Several individuals have fallen victim to salmonella as a result of low standards at an Oldbury eatery, resulting in multiple compensation payouts.
The culprit has been identified as the Wing Wah Chinese restaurant. The restaurant has been fined £10,000 over their inability to adhere to cleanliness strictures, with the director of the restaurant receiving no less than a hundred hours of unpaid community service

Currently, the amount of compensation paid out to the victims stands at £45,000. Six people had to receive hospital treatment as a result of the salmonella outbreak, which occurred during August of 2008. The level of ineptitude demonstrated by those preparing food on behalf of the Wing Wah, is exemplified by the fact that tiramisu (a desert that does not involve any heating of the ingredients), was prepared using raw eggs.

Although of little consequence to the claimants, who had to go to hospital in tremendous pain, the restaurant has now ceased with the practice of using raw eggs in the preparation of its tiramisu. The restaurant has also taken action to clean the areas within the premises that are used for the preparation of food, as well as implementing change in regards to general hygiene practices.
